For over 200 years the US Constitution has served as the system of fundamental laws and principles of our society. This amazing document has served as the cornerstone of our democracy. A reflection of our Founding Fathers' core values, the Constitution has kept our society on track since 1787, and has certainly contributed significantly to the growth and success of the United States.

What is the Constitution of your sales team?

Have you, as yet, identified and communicated your cornerstone? If I was to ask five of your salespeople to describe to me what is expected of them in areas other than sales results would I receive five different answers?

The Production Equation: B+A=R.

Behavior plus activities equals sales results. Or, another way of saying this is that every successful sale is the outcome of a series of behaviors (how something is done) as well as activities (how many times a behavior is performed).

Unfortunately, many of us sales managers try to manage results. We wait until a rep has a bad month before we decide to get involved in "coaching" them. So then, when a rep produces a bad month, we rush over and smother them in coaching trying and get their production back up quickly. Sales managers who try to manage results are like a driver of an automobile who only looks in the rear view mirror... chances are they will be surprised when they collide with something that is unexpected. Looking only in the rear view mirror is not an effective way to drive a car, but it happens to be the way that many sales managers drive their sales teams.

Sales results can't be managed, but behaviors and activities can.

To be the best sales manager you must get in front of the result, get the best sales management training possible, and put in writing your expectations of the behaviors and activities that contribute to sales results.

There are a number of things a person should know when trying to select the right online business. Namely, that it takes time and effort to find a business that will be profitable and attract customers. Consequently, one should take their time when selecting one.

Finding the right online business takes research, and therefore it should be a person's top priority. When doing research look to see if the business or product has the potential for long-term growth and to generate passive.


Do not opt for business trends or products that may offer quick money in the short-term but quickly runs out of steam in the long-term. Also, look for an online business that is fairly established but has plenty of potential.


Remember that online businesses are like any other businesses. It takes time, and work to be able to attract customers and generate profits.


Customer


To have a successful online business, especially one where you want to make passive income, you will need loyal customers. Customers look for businesses that offer them high quality products, good customer service and consistency. Why consistency? Because it breeds trust in customers. They need to trust that their product will arrive on time and in the way they ordered them.


When looking for an online business make sure you have a product(s) that customers will want.

Deciding Between Operating Your Own Business Or Working A Business Opportunity

Working a 9-to-5 job can have many downsides. First, there is the issue of actually going to the job. Who wants to spend an hour or so stuck in traffic? Next, there is the issue of office politics - the constant feeling that you have to bow down to your superiors. Third, there are the costs. When you work outside the home, you have to pay for gas, daycare and clothing. All of these problems can be bypassed if you decide to operate your own business or take advantage of a business opportunity. However, it is important to note that these two are not the same. One of the most glaring difference between operating your own business and working a business opportunity is access to work, (assuming the business opportunity is not sales-based). When you operate your own business, you have to find clients and work yourself. So you become laden down with two jobs: marketing yourself and trying to do the work as it comes in. A business opportunity that is not sales-based will already provide a stream of work for you. So, you will only have to concentrate on actually doing the work, making your life significantly easier.

Why does planning fail when it is usually people with the brightest brains who will come together to put these plans together?

There are several reasons why planning fails:

Overly delegative to the wrong people

Very typical of these important strategic planning exercises is a big parade of management consultants telling the top management what is wrong with the company and what should be done to fix it in order to move it forward. Equally bad is to delegate this important planning exercises to internal staff who don't exactly have much direct stake in this entire exercise e.g. frontline managers, customer service department etc.

Too Rigid and Routinised

Planning never succeeds if it is just viewed as an annual template filling exercise. Most of the time when planning cycle has arrived, there would be a flurry of forms and templates to fill and key performance indicators to consolidate. In this fashion, there is never really true debate of where the company should be heading strategically and what should be done to reach there.

Only Static Analysis

Strategic planning is about a longer term view and sees into the far horizon. Hence, analysis should always be taken with a broader, long term view. Sadly, many organisations are too bogged by planning by numbers and they tend to be very myopic and static. They analyse issues of today, when in a strategic sense, they should be looking at issues of tomorrow. Only so, would they be able to see how the organisation can stand in the times of tomorrow.
